Today saw us head south to the tiny island of Eriskay – famous as the spot where Bonnie Prince Charlie landed to start the 1745 rebellion to oust the English from Scotland (a fight that continues through the ballot box in the 21st Century). It is a small but stunningly beautiful island of about 200 residents, with beautiful beaches and coves. A must-see for visitors to the islands. It is also famous for a shipwreck which sparked the hilarious book and film “Whisky Galore”.
